At RuffLife K9, training is built on trust, clarity, and relationship. Shilee believes dogs learn best when they feel safe, engaged, and understood. Her approach is play-based and balanced, focusing on communication rather than control. Every training plan is tailored to the individual dog and owner, with the goal of creating calm, confident dogs and owners who feel supported long after training sessions end.
Meet the Trainer
Passionate and Experienced
Shilee has always had a deep connection with animals of all kinds. Long before founding RuffLife K9, she was passionate about caring for animals and building strong, trust-based relationships. She grew up training horses, competing in rodeo as a barrel racer, and teaching children how to ride. Those early experiences shaped her relationship-first approach to dog training and behavior.
Shilee combines heart and science in her work. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and is a certified Pet Food Nutrition Specialist and Raw Pet Food Nutrition Specialist through DNM University. Through RuffLife K9, her mission is to help dog owners build calm, confident, and fulfilling lives with their dogs through thoughtful training, nutrition knowledge, and ongoing support.
Her journey into professional dog training became personal when she met her dog, Koda. Koda was rescued from difficult conditions at just five weeks old and struggled with behavioral challenges as a result. Determined to truly understand how to help him, Shilee began studying canine behavior, learning how dogs think, learn, and communicate.

That passion led her to complete advanced education through Training Without Conflict, where she trained under world-renowned dog trainer Ivan Balabanov. This experience transformed how she approaches training by blending clarity, engagement, and balanced methods to help dogs succeed in real-world environments.

RuffLife K9 proudly provides professional dog training services in Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle, offering in-home training, Board and Train programs, Homeschool training, and Private Sessions. Shilee works closely with local dog owners to address obedience, behavior challenges, and foundational training using relationship-first methods designed for real-life success.
